Officers President Causandra R. Gaines Causandra was appointed CEO and president of the Brightmoor Community Center in 2005 after almost 20 years with the Center. Chosen for her experience and dedication, Causandra began working at the center in 1986 as a social worker, eventually moving to management positions and taking over the position of vice president before her appointment. History of Brightmoor
As a settlement house, the Center began in 1922 to provide health services to a rapidly developing, low income neighborhood just outside the Detroit city limits. Residents petitioned to be included in the city in the late 1920s. The Center continues to serve the low-income, now multiethnic neighborhood. The current Center was built in 1958 on land cooperatively purchased by the square foot in 1944. Even the bricks were purchased by the residents as part of the fund-raising effort, further illustrating the community spirit that has made Brightmoor run. The Child Care Center, meeting room and offices were added in 1972. These rooms were brought up to code in 1995 with Federal Head Start funding through New St. Paul Tabernacle Head Start Delegate Agency, Inc.
Facility Rental
Our multipurpose room has approximately 3600 square feet {75x48} and full kitchen facilities. We can provide tables, chairs, and audio for your event. For further information and availability dates, please contact us at 313-531-0305.
Our club room has approximately 1200 square feet {27x45}and is also avaliable for your smaller rental needs
